India: Flooding

30 September 2019 – Heavy monsoon rain has caused flooding and damage to buildings in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Roads and highways have been flooded, and residents of low-lying areas have been evacuated to higher ground.

If you suffer a travel disruption due to this event, please follow your carrier’s or supplier’s advice regarding alternative arrangements.

Already purchased your policy?

  • If you purchased your policy before 7.00 am Tuesday 24 September 2019 (NZST) and your travel is disrupted by this event, you are able to make a claim. Please claim all related costs from your travel provider in the first instance.
  • If you have not been disrupted by this event and you choose to change your travel arrangements, you are not able to make a claim.

If you haven’t yet purchased a policy:

  • If you purchased your policy after 7.00 am Tuesday 24 September 2019 (NZST), you are not able to claim for anything related to this event as it has become a known event under the terms and conditions of your policy.
  • However, you are still covered for other unexpected events that might happen on your trip under the terms and conditions of your policy.
