Sport Wellington has announced that it has renewed its major partnership with the principal sponsor of award-winning event, Wellington Round the Bays. Leading insurance provider, Cigna has signed on as principal sponsor and naming rights holder for upcoming Wellington Round the Bays events for another two years.
Keep a look out for “the yellow shirts” at Wellington’s Cigna Round the Bays on February 21.They’re Achilles athletes - an inspirational bunch of Kiwis. Achilles is a charity that helps Kiwis with any kind of disability to participate in mainstream running events nationally (and internationally).
Cigna and Sport Wellington are excited to announce the date for the 2016 Cigna Round the Bays. On Sunday 21st February 2016, over 14,500 people are expected to take part in running, walking, or wheel chairing around Wellington’s iconic bays.
For the last month, I have managed to up my training runs to several 5km runs a week (non-stop – yay!), and my trainer reckons (I really do hope she is right…!) that the 6.5km on Sunday will be a breeze…. Not sure if ‘breeze’ is the right word to describe how it will feel, but I am forever hopeful.
Auckland woman, Linda Fraser is one of 20 Achilles International athletes from around the country travelling to Wellington to run in the Cigna Round the Bays event, thanks to a grant from the Cigna Foundation.
