What is Shaping Change?

Shaping Change is a Cigna Life Insurance New Zealand Limited (Cigna) online research panel. 

 A research panel consists of individuals from a cross-section of the New Zealand population who have agreed to participate in voluntary, ongoing market research surveys, online discussions and focus groups.

 Cigna has set up Shaping Change to help understand how we can improve the products and services we deliver to customers and advisers.

Who can become a Shaping Change member?

To become a Shaping Change member you need to:

  1. Be a current customer of Cigna or be a current adviser for Cigna;

  2. be at least 15 years old;

  3. register online providing your full name and email address and complete an introductory survey, which we will use to determine your suitability for the Shaping Change research panel; and

  4. be approved as a Shaping Change research member. 

By registering to be a Shaping Change research panel member you agree to be bound by the Shaping Change Terms and Conditions and the Cigna’s Privacy Policy.  The Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy are located on our website.

 In the event that you do not qualify to become or are not approved as a Shaping Change research member, any personal information you have provided during the registration process and in the introductory survey (such as your name and email address) will not be further.  Any aggregated information arising out of your participation in our research may still be kept, but neither you, nor your personal information will be identifiable.

What happens after I join?

Once you’ve been accepted as a Shaping Change research panel member, you will be sent a confirmation email.  In that email will be a link that you click to activate your Shaping Change membership and account.

As a Shaping Change member, you will be invited to take part in surveys, online discussions or focus groups from time to time, to provide your opinions about, and experiences with Cigna, and other financial services topics.  Participation in surveys is voluntary.

How do I update my personal details?

If you’d like to update other personal details, please email us at support@shapingchange.cigna.co.nz.

How do I stop my Shaping Change membership?

To end your Shaping Change membership, click on the ‘unsubscribe’ link in a survey invitation, or email your request for removal to support@shapingchange.cigna.co.nz.

 Terminating your Shaping Change membership won’t affect your insurance policy with Cigna in any way.

What happens to my personal information if I do not qualify to become a member or end my Shaping Change membership?

Once your Shaping Change membership has ended or in the event that you do not qualify to become or are not approved as a Shaping Change research member, any personal information you have provided (such as your name and email address) will not be further.  Any aggregated information arising out of your participation in our research may still be kept, but neither you, nor your personal information will be identifiable.

By ending your membership with Shaping Change, you will be removed from the Shaping Change mailing list and as such no longer receive emails from Shaping Change.

Why do you need my personal information?

We collect, hold, and use your personal information (including name, email, and postal address) you provide through your Shaping Change membership for market research purposes, to operate, manage, and administer Shaping Change.  We use this information to help in identifying appropriate Shaping Change surveys, online discussions, and focus groups to invite you to.

We also use your personal information to notify you and verify your identity and postal address if you win a prize in any prize draw or competition associated with Shaping Change.

All personal information collected by Shaping Change will be collected, used, and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

How long will I be a Shaping Change member?

Your participation in our surveys, online discussions, and focus groups is entirely your choice.  However, if you haven’t participated in a survey, online discussion, or focus group in over a year, or if you're no longer a Cigna customer or adviser, then we may discontinue your Shaping Change membership without notifying you.

Participating in research

How do I participate in a survey?

When a survey becomes available, you will receive an email inviting you to participate and instructions on how to participate.

What kinds of research will I be asked to participate in?

Shaping Change members will be invited to participate in a variety of different types of research. This might include online surveys, online discussions or focus groups.  Your participation in all surveys is entirely your choice.  

How long will it take to complete a survey?

Most surveys will usually take between 5 and 15 minutes to complete, depending on the number of questions and your answers.

How often will I participate in research?

We aim to invite you to participate in surveys, online discussions and focus groups at least every one to two months.  You can decide whether to participate in the surveys when you are invited.

What will I be asked about in the research?

The surveys, online discussions and focus groups will ask about your opinions of and experiences with Cigna, and other financial services topics.  Please do not at any stage disclose any of your specific policy, internet login or password details in surveys or in emails to support@shapingchange.cigna.co.nz.  Shaping Change will never request this information from you.

What will the research be used for?

Your feedback will be used by Cigna to help improve the experience and solutions delivered to customers and advisers, including you.

 

The responses to surveys are combined and analysed as a group. Individual responses are not identified in the published results.  Any responses you provide will be aggregated with the responses of other participants.

Are there any prizes for completing the research?

A prize draw is conducted each month with the prize being six Prezzy® cards.  Shaping Change is giving away one $500 and five $100 Prezzy® cards.  One entry to the monthly prize draw is given to:

  • current Shaping Change members who have completed a survey in the month

  • new Shaping Change members who joined in the month.

Members who join and complete a survey in a month will receive two entries.

There may be certain circumstances where other prizes are on offer for certain research projects.  Where that is the case, it will be noted in the invitation and/or the survey itself.  Be sure to read the information provided, including the terms and conditions for that prize draw or competition.
