Cigna’s Head of Product & Propositions recognised for demonstrating outstanding leadership, innovation and excellence at the NZ Insurance Industry Awards.

Cigna New Zealand’s Head of Product & Propositions, Adam Rudland won the Young Insurance Professional of the Year Award at the 2015 New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards, held in Auckland last night.

The Industry Awards celebrate the highest standards of best practice and excellence in the insurance industry.

Adam, who was previously Cigna NZ’s Travel Insurance Manager, has had a decade long, world-wide career in the travel insurance industry, and developed the company’s long term strategy for travel insurance. This involved the successful launch of Cigna 50+ travel insurance in December 2014, which was developed to meet potential product gaps within the New Zealand travel market.

The judges said that Adam stood out in a strong group of finalists for his passion for insurance and commitment to improving product and customer outcomes. “At Cigna, Adam has demonstrated a considerable understanding of the customer, achieving impressive results for products that he has developed. Adam’s work has contributed to strong customer feedback and sales, all of which indicate considerable passion and talent that set the platform for a bright insurance career.”

Cigna NZ CEO, Lance Walker said that he was proud to lead a company of talented and dedicated individuals, and passed on his congratulations to Adam. “Adam is an emerging leader in the insurance industry, and his international experience has been invaluable to both Cigna and the wider New Zealand insurance industry. He is always willing to share his knowledge and best practice from around the world, and to contribute to discussions on industry-wide issues affecting travel insurance.”

Adam was honoured to win the award and thanked Cigna NZ for the nomination and for placing their trust in him. “It’s an exciting time to be working in the NZ insurance industry. At an industry level we need to innovate now more than ever in order to meet customers’ need and expectations of insurance, which are evolving at a rapid pace.”

Cigna was also a finalist in the Life Insurance Company of the Year category.
