There’s plenty to update you on this month as we bring to life a number of exciting changes for you and your customers. 

Today I’m pleased to bring you everything you need to know about our ‘new professionals option' to support recent graduates and newly-qualified professionals to get higher levels of cover in place without the need for the usual supporting financials. 

We’ve been inundated with enquiries about this since we announced this market leading initiative at Cigna Live. We’re developing marketing material to help you promote the benefits of insurance to this audience and look forward to sharing it with you as soon as we can.

Latest updates in the underwriting space

We’ve released a series of updates to our eApp and underwriting engine to improve the application process and get your customers covered even faster.

  1. We’ve made improvements to the way medical consents are processed through eApp including refining the scenarios where requests for medical consents are triggered. You can read about these in more detail on our website.

  2. Our underwriting rules engine has also been updated to reflect market developments and to improve the application process.  

These updates are:


The majority of applicants who do not have pre-existing risk factors, have had COVID-19 with only mild symptoms more than seven days ago and have made a full recovery can now be accepted at standard rates for all benefits.


Applicants planning short duration travel to countries which are identified as low risk (all countries classified ‘exercise normal caution’ and countries classified ‘exercise a high degree of caution’, where this classification is only due to COVID-19 risk) on Smartraveller.gov.au can now be accepted without restriction. We continue to offer cover without restriction for holidays to Australia and the Cook Islands.

Mental Health

Applicants who disclose a history of a mental health condition will now have questions more relevant to the specific condition they have disclosed generated by our underwriting engine to improve their application experience.
