Cigna is all about making #GoodLifeDecisions and today we wanted to share with you some quick and easy ways you can make some good life decisions right now.

Our life insurance policies reward those who maintain a healthy lifestyle and we want to encourage all of our customers to jump on the healthy bandwagon and reap the rewards. Take a look at our quick tips below.

1. Wash the linens

Dust mites are a major allergy trigger and they love to hang out in your bed. Washing your linen (sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers) is a sure fire way to get rid of those nasty pests.

2. Put your phone on silent at night

Don’t let emails and texts interrupt your sleep, they can wait until the morning. There’s nothing worse than being woken in the middle of a deep sleep by an unnecessary alert from your phone. Better yet, charge your phone in another room and keep all electronics out of the bedroom. The harshness of their light can be detrimental to your sleep.

3. Keep the volume to a minimum

MP3 players can create sound up to 120 decibels – which can cause permanent damage overtime. Use the 60/60 rule: keep volume under 60% and for no more than 60 minutes.

4. Nuke the dishcloth

Your dishcloth can be a haven for serious bacteria, so make sure you toss it in the dishwasher or washing machine once a week and place it in the microwave while still damp on high for 30 seconds.

5. Keep a notebook by your bed

Usually at night time; our mind starts to race making mental lists of things to do – this tends to keep us up and doesn’t allow our body to truly relax. By keeping a notebook by your bed, you can jot down any thoughts or tasks and rest easy knowing you won’t forget them in the morning.

6. Laugh Out Loud

Laugh hard, laugh often. It can instantly reduce stress and release endorphins that make you feel good and less stressed. Laughing is a great way to stop the broken record of negative thoughts and get you back on track.

7. Get outside

It’s amazing how much good 5 minutes out in the fresh air can do, by boosting the oxygen flow to your brain. Stepping outside, rain or shine can quickly turn your mood around.

8. Attitude of Gratitude

Look for reasons – big or small – to appreciate what you have right now. It’s a good way to strike up conversation at the dinner table by asking everyone what their highlight was. Focusing the good in our life can help us keep on keeping on.
