Income Cover
(Agreed Value)

Income Cover is an Agreed Value monthly benefit that kicks in after 2 years of total disability and is payable for up to 5 years, if the insured person remains unable to return to work due to illness or disability.

What are Client benefits?

These are additional benefits outside of your normal insurance cover at no extra charge to you. You can apply for them for yourself, or your life assured and dependent children.

How do I make a claim? What's the first step?

The first step in making an insurance claim is to contact Cigna directly. Our team will guide you through the claims process, beginning with giving you clear information on your policy and sending out any required forms for your claim.

Who will pay for my medical costs?

Cigna will meet the medical costs involved if we have requested medical information from your doctor, or if we have asked for a blood test or specific examination. If, however, you are already scheduled to have a specific test, or are due for a review of a medical condition which would ordinarily occur with your doctor, the cost will be your responsibility to meet.

When do you pay the invoice?

The service must be approved by Cigna before the benefit is carried out to/on the policy owner, life assured or dependent child. Once pre-approval is provided to the policy owner, life assured or dependent child, it is the responsibility of the policy owner or life assured to make an appointment and provide Cigna the invoice.

The policy owner and/or life assured must produce a GST receipt for the appointment in order for the claim to be paid by Cigna. Please ensure invoice is made out to Cigna Life Insurance NZ with a reference to the claimant’s name, policy number and condition.

Benefits are approved at Cigna’s discretion.

Cigna reserves the right to change, remove or add benefits without notice.

Cigna will not pay the invoice if the policy owner, life assured or dependent child missed an appointment or does not cancel within the provider’s required timeframe and is therefore charged a fee.
