Cigna CIO Carmen Casagranda has been named in the top 10 of New Zealand’s most innovative CIOs, as part of CIO Magazine’s 2017 CIO100 Report.
Cigna New Zealand CEO Lance Walker says; “I was thrilled to hear of the acknowledgement of Carmen’s work. Not only is Carmen the only CIO from an insurance company in the list, but to make the top 10 is a great honour.
“The industry’s acknowledgement of both Carmen’s guidance and leadership of our IT team, and subsequently the work undertaken by her team to implement our significant digital transformation, is fantastic and a huge achievement for our organisation.”
Cigna started its journey of digital transformation in 2015 – focusing on critically reviewing current processes to identify new ways to improve, rationalise and technically enable customer focussed business solutions.
The significant changes to IT successes this project is delivering, and how it is reinventing the way Cigna engages with its customers, were key factors of the acknowledgement.
Reflecting on the announcement Carmen says; “Our culture of innovation, collaboration and drive to do and be the best for our customers is central to this recognition by CIO.”
Carmen says the future of insurance is undergoing competitive disruption and growth in customer expectations. ''While the nature of the relationship between insurance company and customer has never really changed, the way this is implemented is being re-invented by Cigna.”
“Our strategic ‘omni-everything’ approach of our digital transformation means that our customers will have the ability to custom-tailor interactions with us, while we still maintain the stability and profitability of our overall business.''
The annual CIO100 Report showcases the variety of organisations and transformations that exist in different market sectors, profiling excellence in three key pillars: business transformation; innovation; and leadership.
CIO notes the core strengths of the CIO100 leaders are; driving digital transformation while maintaining operational functions; staying ahead of trends; and deciding which emerging technologies to take into the fold.
